RSA enVision Bugs Permit Cross-Site Scripting, SQL Injection, and Directory Traversal Attacks
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1026819
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1026819
CVE Reference:   CVE-2012-0399, CVE-2012-0400, CVE-2012-0401, CVE-2012-0402, CVE-2012-0403   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Mar 19 2012
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of system information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 4.x, prior to 4.1 Patch 4
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in RSA enVision. A remote user can access the system. A remote authenticated user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote authenticated user can inject SQL commands. A remote authenticated user can view files on the target system.

The system does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2012-0399]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the RSA enVision interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The system does not properly restrict excessive authentication attempts [CVE-2012-0400]. A remote user can conduct brute force password guessing attacks.

The system does not properly validate user-supplied input [CVE-2012-0401]. A remote authenticated user can supply a specially crafted parameter value to execute SQL commands on the underlying database.

The system has hardcoded authentication credentials [CVE-2012-0402]. A remote user can access the system using these credentials.

A remote authenticated user can supply a specially crafted request to view files on the target system [CVE-2012-0403].

Filip Palian reported some of these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the RSA enVision interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote authenticated user can execute SQL commands on the underlying database.

A remote authenticated user can view files on the target system.

A remote user can conduct brute force password guessing attacks.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (4.1 Patch 4).
