Description:   A vulnerability was reported in BlackBerry Desktop Software. A local user can decrypt the backup file.

The BlackBerry Desktop Software user uses a weak password method. A local user can conduct brute force guessing attacks to decrypt the backup file.

BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry Device Software are not affected.

ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can decrypt the backup file.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (6.0.1 for PC, 2.0 for Mac).
