Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Apple Mail. A remote user can determine if an e-mail message was read by the target user.

A remote user can send HTML-based e-mail containing an HTML Link Element that requests DNS prefetching to cause the target user's Mail application to perform a DNS prefetch for images even if remote image loading is disabled.

Mike Cardwell of Cardwell IT Ltd. reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can determine if an e-mail message was read by the target user.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (4.2), available via iTunes.
