Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Mac OS X. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local user can exploit a flaw in the implementation of fcntl() system calls to overwrite kernel memory to execute arbitrary code with system privileges.

Razvan Musaloiu-E. of Johns Hopkins University, HiNRG, reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Security Update 2009-003 / Mac OS X v10.5.8), available from the Software Update pane in System Preferences, or Apple's Software Downloads web site at:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

The Software Update utility will present the update that applies
to your system configuration. Only one is needed, either
Security Update 2009-003 or Mac OS X v10.5.8.
