Description:   A vulnerability was reported in the Linux Kernel. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local user can invoke an application that modifies the exit_signal field and then launches a set user id (setuid) application via an exec system call to be able to send an arbitrary signal to a process. This can be exploited to gain elevated privileges.

The vulnerability resides in the exit_notify() function in 'kernel/exit.c'.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (2.6.30-rc1).
