Description:   A vulnerability was reported in the Mac OS X Managed Client. A physically local user can bypass the screen saver lock.

The Managed Client does not properly identify the system to install the appropriate per-host configuration settings. As a result, the screen saver lock settings may not be applied.

Systems with built-in Ethernet are not affected.

John Barnes of ESRI, and Trevor Lalish-Menagh of Tamman Technologies, Inc. reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A physically local user may be able to access the system.
Solution:   Apple has issued a fix as part of Security Update 2008-008 and Mac OS X v10.5.6, available from the Software Update pane in System Preferences, or Apple's Software Downloads web site at:

http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

The Software Update utility will present the update that applies to your system configuration. Only one is needed, either Security Update 2008-008 or Mac OS X v10.5.6.
