Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft PowerPoint. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted PowerPoint file that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

Ruben Santamarta of Reversemode.com via iDefense and ADLab of Venustech reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create a PowerPoint file that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

On August 20, 2008, Microsoft reissued their advisory and made available new patches ("version 2") for Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 SP2 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 SP3 to the Microsoft Download Center. Customers who manually installed "version 1" via the Microsoft Download Center need to reinstall "version 2". Customers who installed the update via Microsoft Update or Office Update do not need to reinstall.
