Description:   A vulnerability was reported in IBM AIX. A local user can obtain root privileges on the target system.

A local user can exploit certain 'nddstat' commands to execute arbitrary code on the target system with root privileges.

The following files are affected:

/usr/sbin/atmstat
/usr/sbin/entstat
/usr/sbin/fddistat
/usr/sbin/hdlcstat
/usr/sbin/tokstat

IBM discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain root privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued the following fixes.

For 5.2.0: APAR IZ16991
For 5.3.0: APAR IZ17058 (to be available on 3/17/2008)
For 5.3.7: APAR IZ17059 (to be available on 3/17/2008)
For 6.1.0: APAR IZ16975
