Description:   A vulnerability was reported in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Express Server. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can send specially crafted data to the backup server service on TCP port 1500 to trigger a buffer overflow in 'dsmsvc.exe' and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with System level privileges.

The vendor was notified on December 5, 2007.

Sebastian Apelt and Tenable Network Security separately reported this vulnerability via TippingPoint.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with System privileges.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.3.7.3), available at:
