Description:   A vulnerability was reported in IBM AIX. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local user may be able to exploit a flaw in setlocale() via applications with set user id (setuid) or set group id (setgid) privileges that call the function to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
Solution:   IBM plans to issue the following fixes.

APAR number for AIX 5.1.0: IY88528 (available approx. 09/06/06)
APAR number for AIX 5.2.0: IY88512 (available approx. 09/06/06)
APAR number for AIX 5.3.0: IY88183 (available approx. 09/06/06)
