Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Macromedia Flash. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted '.swf' file that, when loaded by the target user, will trigger a memory access error and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

The vendor was notified on June 9, 2006, without response [as of the date of the original entry].

Dejun Meng of Fortinet Security Research team discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can create a '.swf' file that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.
Solution:   The vendor silently fixed the vulnerability in version 9,0,16,0 (or possibly an earlier version).

On September 12, 2006, the vendor issued an advisory confirming the vulnerability and the solution. The Adobe advisory is available at:
