Description:   A vulnerability was reported in TkDiff. A local user can gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The software creates temporary files in an unsafe manner. A local user can create a symbolic link (symlink) from a critical file on the system to a temporary file to be used by TkDiff. Then, when TkDiff is run, the symlinked file may be created or overwritten with the privileges of the user running tkdiff.

Javier Fernandez-Sanguino Pena from the Debian Security Audit project discovered this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user may be able to obtain the privileges of the target user running TkDiff.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (4.1.1), available at:
