Version(s): prior to 1.0.5
Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Mozilla Firefox in controlling access in shared base objects. A remote user can execute arbitrary code with privileges. Mozilla Suite is also affected.

The browser does not properly clone base objects. A remote user can create a script that, when loaded by the target user, can traverse the prototype chain to access a privileged object and then cause the object to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges.

The vendor credits moz_bug_r_a4 and shutdown with reporting this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user may be able to cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (1.0.5), available at:

http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

[Editor's note: Mozilla Suite is also affected. A fixed version of Mozilla Suite (1.7.9) is available.]
