Description:   A buffer overflow vulnerability was reported in the HP HTTP Server. A remote user may be able to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

A remote user can send specially crafted data to trigger a buffer overflow in the HP HTTP Server component of the HP Web-enabled Management Software. A remote user can also cause denial of service conditions.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system with the privileges of the target service.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fixed version (5.96 or later).

Alternately, the vendor indicates that you can update to the System Management Homepage Version 2.0 or later.

Management Software Security Patch for Windows Version 5.96 (or later) is downloadable as SoftPaq SP29008 at:

For Compaq/HP HTTP Server versions 4.0 through 4.99, the vendor recommends that you install the System Management Homepage Version 2.0 or later (available as part of the HP ProLiant Support Pack v7.20).
