Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Windows. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target system. A remote authenticated user can gain elevated privileges. Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Office, and other applications that use OLE are also affected.

The vendor reported that there is a buffer overflow in OLE [CVE: CVE-2005-0044]. A remote user can send a message attachment containing a specially crafted OLE object that, when opened by the target user, will trigger the overflow and execute arbitrary code. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

A vulnerability exists in the processing of COM structured storage files [CVE: CVE-2005-0047]. A remote authenticated user can access memory to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

The vendor credits Cesar Cerrudo of Application Security Inc. with reporting the COM flaw.

Impact:   A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed by the target user.

A remote authenticated user can gain elevated privileges.
