Description:   A buffer overflow vulnerability was reported in Altnet Download Manager. A remote user can execute arbitrary code on a target user's computer.

Secunia reported that a remote user can create HTML that invokes the Altnet Download Manager ActiveX control with a specially crafted 'bstrFilepath' parameter to trigger an overflow in the IsValidFile() method. Arbitrary code can be executed, the report said.

The Altnet Download Manager is reportedly included with Kazaa and Grokster distributions.

The report credits CelebrityHacker with discovering this flaw.

Impact:   A remote user can execute arbitrary code on the target user's system with the privileges of the target user.
