Description:   Tal0n reported reported a vulnerability in Music daemon. A remote user can view arbitrary files on the target system. A remote user can also cause the daemon to crash.

It is reported that the software does not authenticate user-supplied commands. A remote user can connect to the target system and issue the LOAD command (e.g., 'LOAD /etc/shadow') followed by the SHOWLIST command to view arbitrary files with the privileges of the Music daemon process (reported to be root privileges by default).

A remote user can also connect to the system and issue a LOAD command on a binary on the target system (such as '/bin/cat') and then issue the SHOWLIST command to cause the Music daemon to crash.

Impact:   A remote user can view arbitrary files on the target system.

A remote user can cause the Music daemon to crash.

there may be 10 whole boxes in the world running this.. and its not very 
handy sitting around on my box =p.

* As you can see, it simply makes a connection, sends the commands, and
* leaves. MusicDaemon doesn't even log that new connection's IPs that I
* know of. Works very well, eh? :)
* The vulnerability is in where the is no authenciation for 1. For 2, it
* will let you "LOAD" any file on the box if you have the correct 
* and by default, as I said before, it runs as root, unless you change the
* configuration file to make it run as a different user.
* After we "LOAD" the /etc/shadow file, we do a "SHOWLIST" so we can grab
* the contents of the actual file. You can subtitute any file you want in
* for /etc/shadow, I just coded it to grab it because it being such an
* important system file if you know what I mean ;).
* As for the DoS, if you "LOAD" any binary on the system, then use 
* it will crash music daemon.
