Description:   A vulnerability was reported in SunForum in the processing of H.323 messages. A remote user may be able to execute arbitrary code on the target system.

It is reported that a remote user can send specially crafted H.323 traffic to cause denial of service conditions on the target system or potentially execute arbitrary code.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target service to crash. A remote user may be able to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Solution:   No solution was available at the time of this entry. The vendor is working on a fix.

As a workaround, Sun recommends that all systems using SunForum be located behind a firewall or proxy that blocks H.323 traffic.

H.323 Message   15 Jan 2004

Sun reported that a remote user can cause denial of service conditions on SunForum due to 
a flaw in processing H.323 messages.  A remote user may also be able to cause arbitrary 
code to be executed, according to the Sun alert.

The following versions are affected:

SunForum 3.2 (for Solaris 2.6, 7, 8, and 9) or earlier
SunForum 3D 1.0 (for Solaris 8 and 9)

As a workaround, Sun recommends that all systems using SunForum be located behind a 
firewall or proxy that blocks H.323 traffic.

Sun is working on a final resolution.
