Description:   An information disclosure vulnerability was reported in IBM's OS/400 operating system for the AS/400 platform. A remote user with a valid account on the system can view a list of user account names on the system.

It is reported that a remote user with a valid account on the system (even if it has minimal privileges) can view every user account name on the AS/400 if 'system request' is enabled (which is the default configuration).

The following demonstration exploit steps are provided:

Sign-on to AS/400
Issue system request (Shift + Esc key)
Hit enter
Choose option 3, display current job
Choose option 13, display library list
Choose option 5 next to library QSYS
Scroll down to view names of all objects of type *USRPRF (user profile)

Impact:   In the default configuration, a remote user with a valid user account can view a list of all the user account names on the system.
Solution:   No solution was available at the time of this entry.

Under the following two conditions one may view every user account name

1. A valid signon, even if it has virtually no permissions.
2. System request must be enabled. (Factory standard)

Do the following:

Sign-on to AS/400

Choose option 3, display current job
Choose option 13, display library list
Choose option 5 next to library QSYS
