Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in IBM SPSS Statistics. A remote user can modify files on the target system. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted IBM JRE Diagnostic Tooling Framework for Java (DTFJ) dump file that, when extracted by the target user, will overwrite files on the target user's system [CVE-2018-1656].

A local user can invoke the Java Attach API to use other processes and execute arbitrary code to gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2018-12539].

Impact:   A remote user can modify files on the target system.

A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

Solution:   IBM has issued a fix.
