Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Hyper-V. A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the target system. A local user on the guest system can obtain potentially sensitive information.

A local user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to trigger an input validation error and execute arbitrary code on the target host system [CVE-2018-0965]. Versions 2016 and 10.x are affected.

A local user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to trigger an input validation error and execute arbitrary code on the target host system [CVE-2018-8439].

A local user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to trigger an input validation error and obtain potentially sensitive information from host system memory [CVE-2018-8434].

A local user on a guest system can reboot the guest system multiple times until the Windows Hyper-V BIOS loader fails to provide a high-entropy source [CVE-2018-8435].

A local privileged user on a guest operating system can send specially crafted data to trigger an error in the Microsoft Hyper-V Network Switch on the host system and cause the host system to crash [CVE-2018-8436, CVE-2018-8437, CVE-2018-8438].

Giwan Go, Hyoung-Kee Choi in HIT Lab at Sungkyunkwan University, Niels Ferguson of Microsoft Corporation, Peter Hlavaty (@zer0mem), KeenLab at Tencent, Nick Freeman, and Daniel King (@long123king) of MSRC Microsoft reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the target host system.

A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the target host system.

A local user on the guest system can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target host system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
