Description:   A vulnerability was reported in VMware Workstation and Fusion. A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

A local user on the guest system can exploit an out-of-bounds memory write error to execute arbitrary code and gain elevated privileges on the host system.

Workstation and Fusion on the e1000 device are affected.

Anonymous (via Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative) reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.
Solution:   VMware has issued a fix (Fusion 10.1.3, Workstation 14.1.3).
