RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle Lets Remote Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting Attacks and Remote Authenticated Users Execute System Commands
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1041287
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1041287
CVE Reference:   CVE-2018-1245, CVE-2018-1255   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jul 12 2018
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information, User access via network
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 7.0.1, 7.0.2, and 7.1.0
Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle. A remote authenticated user can execute arbitrary commands on the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote authenticated user can bypass Java Security Policies and execute arbitrary system commands on the target system with the privileges of the target application [CVE-2018-1245].

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2018-1255]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Lukasz Plonka reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can execute arbitrary commands on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (7.0.2 P07, 7.1.0 P01; Advisory DSA-2018-084).
