Description:   A vulnerability was reported in VMware NSX SD-WAN Edge by VeloCloud. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local user on the local web user interface can inject commands to gain elevated privileges on the target system.

Cory Mathews, Quentin Rhoads-Herrera, and Maggie Ligon of Critical Start and Brian Sullivan from Tevora separately reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
Solution:   VMware has issued a fix (3.1.2).

[Editor's note: The vendor advises that the local web user interface component should not be enabled on untrusted networks and indicates that the service will be removed in future release versions.]
