Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system.

A local user on an x86 PV guest system that can invoke hardware debugging facilities can trigger a debug exception and cause the host system to crash.

The vulnerability was introduced by the fixed described in Xen Security Advisory XSA-260.

Systems that have applied the XSA-260 fix are affected.

x86 systems are affected. ARM systems are not affected.

Andrew Cooper of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can cause the host system to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa265-4.7.patch and xsa265.patch).
