Description:
A vulnerability was reported in IBM DB2. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.
A local user can trigger a buffer overflow in db2convert to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
Systems that have a privileged script that call db2convert may allow code execution with the privileges of the DB2 process.
[Editor's note: The vendor notes that these tools are not installed with set user id (setuid) privileges by default and do not allow privilege escalation when called directly.]
