Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in VMware Workstation and Fusion. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system. A local on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the same guest system.

A local user can exploit a signature bypass flaw to gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2018-6962]. VMware Fusion is affected.

A local user on a guest system can trigger a null pointer dereference in the RPC handler to cause denial of service conditions on the same guest system [CVE-2018-6963].

CodeColorist of AntFinancial LightYear Security Labs, Hahna Latonick and Kevin Fujimoto (via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative), and Bruno Botelho (@utxsec) reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the same guest system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Fusion 10.1.2, 14.1.2).
