Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks. A remote authenticated administrator user modify data and cause denial of service conditions.

A remote authenticated administrator user can exploit a directory traversal flaw via Windows alternate data streams to bypass file extension restrictions when exporting an XML file [CVE-2018-6660]. This can be exploited to modify data and cause denial of service conditions.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2018-6659]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Impact:   A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

A remote authenticated administrator user can view bypass file extension restrictions when exporting an XML file to modify data and cause denial of service conditions.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (5.3.3 or 5.9.1) [in July and November 2017].
