Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can cause the hypervisor to crash.

A local user on an x86 PVH guest system that is configured without local Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controllers (APICs) can trigger a null pointer error to cause the hypervisor to crash.

x86 systems are affected.

Ian Jackson of Citrix reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can the hypervisor to crash.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa256-4.8.patch and xsa256.patch).
