Description:   A vulnerability was reported in EMC Unisphere for VMAX Virtual Appliance. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system. A remote user can conduct XML external entity attacks to obtain files on the target system.

A remote user can supply specially crafted XML External Entity (XXE) data to the target interface to read files on the target system with the privileges of the target service.

This can also be exploited to cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

The vulnerability resides in the Dell EMC Common Object Manager (ECOM) component.

Impact:   A remote user can cause denial of service conditions.

A remote user can read files on the target system with the privileges of the target service.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Advisory DSA-2018-013).
