Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Dell EMC Avamar. A remote user can view and modify the Local Download Service (LDLS) credentials.

The Installation Manager component does not enforce access controls. A remote user can view or modify the LDLS credentials, which are used to authenticate to Dell EMC Online Support.

This can be exploited to prevent the Installation Manager from connecting to online support or to login to online support and impersonate the AVI service.

Kapil Khot from Qualys Vulnerability Signature/Research Team reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can view and modify the LDLS credentials used to authenticate to Dell EMC Online Support.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Advisory DSA-2018-025; 7.3.1 HOTFIX 290316, 7.4.1 - HOTFIX 291882 , 7.5.0 - HOTFIX 291881).
