Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft Hyper-V. A local user on the guest system can cause denial of service conditions on the host system. A local user on the guest system can obtain potentially sensitive information from host system memory.

The Hyper-V Network Switch does not properly validate input from a privileged user on a guest operating system [CVE-2018-0885]. A local privileged user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to cause the host system to crash. Windows 7 SP1 is not affected.

A local user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to obtain potentially sensitive information from host system memory [CVE-2018-0888].

Jordan Rabet, Microsoft Offensive Security Research Team and Joe Bialek, MSRC Vulnerabilities and Mitigations Team reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local privileged user on the guest system can cause the host system to crash.

A local user on the guest system can obtain potentially sensitive information from system memory on the host system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
