Version(s): 2013 SP1, Enterprise Server 2016
Description:   Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Microsoft SharePoint. A remote authenticated user can gain elevated privileges. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The system does not properly verify tenant permissions. A remote authenticated user can send a specially crafted request to gain the privileges of the target tenant [CVE-2018-0947]. This can be exploited to read, edit, or delete content and change permissions.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2018-0909, CVE-2018-0910, CVE-2018-0911, CVE-2018-0912, CVE-2018-0913, CVE-2018-0914, CVE-2018-0915, CVE-2018-0916, CVE-2018-0917, CVE-2018-0921, CVE-2018-0923, CVE-2018-0944]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the Microsoft SharePoint software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Ashar Javed of Hyundai AutoEver Europe GmbH and Ivan Vagunin reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can gain tenant privileges on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the Microsoft SharePoint software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
