Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Cisco ASR 5000 Series Routers. A local user can obtain root privileges on the target system.

A local user with administrator privileges can supply specially crafted command line interface (CLI) command arguments to exploit an input validation flaw in the Cisco StarOS operating system and execute arbitrary commands on the target system [CVE-2018-0217, CVE-2018-0224].

CVE-2018-0224 can be exploited to obtain root privileges.

The vendor has assigned bug IDs CSCvg29441 and CSCvg38807 to these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A local administrative user can obtain root privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
