Blue Coat ProxySG Multiple Flaws Let Remote Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting and Open Redirect Attacks and Obtain Authentication Information
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1040138
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1040138
CVE Reference:   CVE-2016-10256, CVE-2016-10257, CVE-2016-9099, CVE-2016-9100   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jan 10 2018
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of system information, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 6.5, 6.6, 6.7
Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Blue Coat ProxySG. A remote user can redirect the target user's browser to an arbitrary site. A remote user can obtain authentication information on the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote user can create a URL that, when loaded by the target user, will redirect the target user's browser to an arbitrary site [CVE-2016-9099].

A remote user with access to the client host of an authenticated administrator can obtain sensitive authentication credential information [CVE-2016-9100].

The interface does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2016-10256, CVE-2016-10257]. A remote user can create a specially crafted URL that, when loaded by a target user, will cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the Blue Coat ProxySG interface and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Jakub Palaczynski and Pawel Bartunek reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target user's browser to be redirected to an arbitrary web site.

A remote user can obtain authentication information on the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the Blue Coat ProxySG interface, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the interface, or take actions on the interface acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (6.5.10.6, 6.6.5.13 [CVE-2016-9100 only], 6.7.3.1).
