Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in VMware vSphere Data Protection (VDP). A remote user can view files on the target system. A remote authenticated user can upload files to the target system. A remote user can gain root access on the target system.

A remote user can bypass authentication to gain root access on the target system [CVE-2017-15548].

A remote authenticated user can upload arbitrary files to arbitrary locations on the target file system [CVE-2017-15549].

A remote authenticated user with low privileges can supply a specially crafted request to view files on target system with the privileges of the target application [CVE-2017-15550].

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can view files on the target system.

A remote authenticated user can upload files to the target system.

A remote user can gain root access on the target system.

Solution:   VMware has issued a fix (VDP 6.0.7, 6.1.6).
