Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Microsoft Malware Protection Engine. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. Microsoft Exchange Server is affected.

A remote user can create a specially crafted file that, when scanned by the target Microsoft Malware Protection Engine, will trigger a memory corruption error and execute arbitrary code on the target system. The code will run with LocalSystem privileges.

Microsoft Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection, Microsoft Security Essentials, and Windows Defender are affected.

The UK's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when scanned by the target Microsoft Malware Protection Engine, will execute arbitrary code with LocalSystem privileges on the target system.
Solution:   Microsoft has issued a fix for CVE-2017-11937 for Microsoft Exchange Server (Microsoft Malware Protection Engine 1.1.14405.2).
