Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco NX-OS. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local administrator user can exploit an input validation during the installation of a software patch to execute arbitrary commands on the target system with root privileges.

The following Nexus series devices are affected:

2000 Series Fabric Extenders
5000 Series Switches
5500 Platform Switches
5600 Platform Switches
6000 Series Switches
7000 Series Switches
7700 Series Switches

The vendor has assigned bug IDs CSCvf23735 and CSCvg04072 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can obtain root privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
