Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Cisco NX-OS. A local user can write arbitrary files on the target system.

A local administrator user can exploit a security restrictions flaw in the patch installation process to write arbitrary files with root privileges on the target system.

The following Nexus series devices are affected:

2000 Series Fabric Extenders
5000 Series Switches
5500 Platform Switches
5600 Platform Switches
6000 Series Switches
7000 Series Switches
7700 Series Switches

The vendor has assigned bug IDs CSCvf16513, CSCvf23794, and CSCvf23832 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can write arbitrary files with root privileges on the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.
