Description:   Several vulnerabilities were reported in Symantec Endpoint Protection. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system. A local user can bypass security restrictions. A local user can delete arbitrary files on the target system. A local user can cause denial of service conditions.

A local user can perform multiple file and directory writes to gain elevated privileges on the target system [CVE-2017-13681]. Versions 12.1.x are affected.

A local user can exploit a flaw in the user interface to delete arbitrary files on the target system [CVE-2017-13680].

A local user can bypass the real time tamper-protection function on the target system [CVE-2017-6331]. This can also be exploited to send spoofed messages to the user interface or to prevent access to the user interface.

Impact:   A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system.

A local user can bypass security protection on the target system.

A local user can delete arbitrary files on the target system.

A local user can prevent access to the user interface.

A local user can send spoofed messages to the user interface.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (12.1 RU6 MP9, 14 RU1) [in October 2017].
