Description:   A vulnerability was reported in systemd. A remote user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

A remote server can return specially crafted DNS NSEC resource record data to the connected target client system to trigger an infinite loop in the dns_packet_read_type_window() function in the 'systemd-resolved' service and cause the target systemd-resolve service to fail to respond.

Thomas IMBERT of Sogeti ESEC R&D reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can cause the target systemd-resolve service to fail to respond.
Solution:   Ubuntu has issued a fix.
