Description:   A vulnerability was reported in IBM DB2. A local user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system. A local user can overwrite files on the target system. IBM Spectrum Protect is affected.

A local user can trigger a buffer overflow to overwrite DB2 files or cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

Tim Brown at Portcullis Computer Security reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user can cause denial of service conditions on the target system.

A local user can overwrite DB2 files on the target system.

Solution:   IBM has issued a fix for IBM Spectrum Protect (7.1.8, 8.1.3).
