Description:   A vulnerability was reported in EMC Data Protection Advisor. A remote user can gain access to the target system.

The system includes several undocumented accounts with hard-coded passwords, including administrative accounts. A remote user can gain access to the accounts via REST APIs.

The accounts are:

"Apollo System Test"
"emc.dpa.agent.logon"
"emc.dpa.metrics.logon"

rgod (via Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative (ZDI)) reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A remote user can gain access to the target system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (6.3 patch 67, 6.4 patch 130; Advisory ESA-2017-098).

[Editor's note: The vendor indicates that the "Apollo System Test" and "emc.dpa.metrics.logon" accounts have been removed and that the password for the "emc.dpa.agent.logon" account can be changed in the fixed versions.]
