Description:   A vulnerability was reported in VMware Workstation/Fusion. A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

A local user on the guest system can run a specially crafted application to trigger an out-of-bounds memory write error in the SVGA device and execute arbitrary code on the host system.

Nico Golde and Ralf-Philipp Weinmann of Comsecuris UG (haftungsbeschraenkt) (via ZDI) reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Workstation 12.5.7; Fusion 8.5.8).
