Description:
A vulnerability was reported in Glibc. A local user can obtain elevated privileges on the target system. McAfee Web Gateway is affected.
A local user can supply specially crafted LD_LIBRARY_PATH values to trigger a stack memory allocation flaw in certain cases and execute arbitrary code on the target system with elevated privileges.
The stack guard-page memory gap can be "jumped" in cases where heap memory and stack memory are adjacent.

Solution:
McAfee has issued a fix for CVE-2017-1000366 for McAfee Web Gateway (7.6.2.15, 7.7.2.3).
[Editor's note: The vendor states that default installations that do not have a local shell user are not affected.]
