Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Juniper Junos. A local user on a virtualized instance can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

A local user can exploit an authentication flaw to gain elevated privileges on the host system.

Junos OS instances run in a virtualized environment are affected.

Systems with FIPS mode enabled are not affected.

vMX is not affected.

The vendor has assigned PR 1161762 to this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the virtualized system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (14.1X53-D40, 15.1R5, 15.1X49-D70, 16.1R2).
