RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle Bugs Let Remote Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting Attacks and Let Remote Authenticated Administrative Users Upload Arbitrary Files
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1038877
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1038877
CVE Reference:   CVE-2017-8004, CVE-2017-8005   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jul 12 2017
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 6.9.1, 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.0.2
Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle. A remote authenticated user can upload files to the target system. A remote user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

A remote authenticated application administrator user can upload files to the target system and then cause them to be executed [CVE-2017-8004].

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input [CVE-2017-8005]. A remote user can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the RSA Identity Management and Governance software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

The following product versions are affected:

RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle: 7.0.1, 7.0.2
RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance version: 7.0
RSA Identity Management and Governance (RSA IMG): 6.9.1

Impact:   A remote authenticated user can upload files to the target system.

A remote user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the RSA Identity Management and Governance software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Advisory ESA-2017-076):

RSA Identity Governance and Lifecycle 7.0.1 P03, 7.0.2 P01
RSA Via Lifecycle and Governance 7.0.1 P03
RSA Identity Management and Governance 6.9.1 P23 (for CVE-2017-8005 only)
