Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in Windows PDF. A remote user can cause arbitrary code to be executed on the target user's system. A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

A remote user can create a specially crafted PDF file that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system [CVE-2017-0292]. The code will run with the privileges of the target user.

A remote user can create a specially crafted PDF file that, when loaded by the target user, will access potentially sensitive information from memory on the target user's system [CVE-2017-8460].

Ke Liu (winsonliu) of Tencent's Xuanwu LAB (via Trend Micro's Zero Day Initiative (ZDI)) reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote user can create content that, when loaded by the target user, will execute arbitrary code on the target user's system.

A remote user can obtain potentially sensitive information on the target system.

Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix.

[Editor's note: On July 11, 2017, the vendor issued an updated fix for CVE-2017-0292 for users that have experienced a known issue when rendering PDF files.]
