RSA Identity Management and Governance Input Validation Flaws Let Remote and Remote Authenticated Users Conduct Cross-Site Scripting Attacks
SecurityTracker Alert ID:  1038648
SecurityTracker URL:  http://securitytracker.com/id/1038648
CVE Reference:   CVE-2017-5003, CVE-2017-5004   (Links to External Site)
Date:  Jun 9 2017
Impact:   Disclosure of authentication information, Disclosure of user information, Execution of arbitrary code via network, Modification of user information
Fix Available:  Yes  Vendor Confirmed:  Yes
Version(s): 6.9.1; Via Lifecycle and Governance 7.0; Identity Governance and Lifecycle 7.0.1, 7.0.2
Description:   Two vulnerabilities were reported in RSA Identity Management and Governance. A remote and remote authenticated user can conduct cross-site scripting attacks.

The software does not properly filter HTML code from user-supplied input before displaying the input. A remote user [CVE-2017-5003] or remote authenticated user [CVE-2017-5004] can cause arbitrary scripting code to be executed by the target user's browser. The code will originate from the site running the RSA Identity Management and Governance software and will run in the security context of that site. As a result, the code will be able to access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.

Lukasz Plonka reported these vulnerabilities.

Impact:   A remote or remote authenticated user can access the target user's cookies (including authentication cookies), if any, associated with the site running the RSA Identity Management and Governance software, access data recently submitted by the target user via web form to the site, or take actions on the site acting as the target user.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (Advisory ESA-2017-064; Identity Management and Governance 6.9.1 P23; Via Lifecycle and Governance 7.0.1 P03; Identity Governance and Lifecycle 7.0.1 P03, 7.0.2 P01).
