Description:   A vulnerability was reported in Xen. A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.

A local user on a pair of guest systems can invoke a specially crafted GNTTABOP_transfer operation from one guest to the other and then return a specially crafted page to the originating guest to access system memory and gain elevated privileges on the host system.

x86 systems are affected.

ARM systems are not affected.

Jann Horn of Google Project Zero reported this vulnerability.

Impact:   A local user on the guest system can gain elevated privileges on the host system.
Solution:   The vendor has issued a fix (xsa124.patch and xsa214.patch).
